Considerations for Business Continuity

You’ve seen the headlines when organisations like yours suffer a disruption. Reports suggest that the cost to businesses is increasing to £1.2 million per hour. If a disruption prevents you from meeting customer needs or brings you out of compliance with statutory regulations, the impact on your business can be even more significant and far reaching.

Business Continuity is often an area that can be overlooked with organisations considering their backups to form part of their Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) Strategy – which is only part of the solution.

Areas to consider are:

  • Location: Where are you going to recover to?
  • Hardware: What are you going to recover to?
  • RTO: What is your Recovery Time Objective – how long can your business be without access to your Business-Critical Applications?
  • RPO: What is your Recovery Point Objective – how much data can your business afford to lose without it impacting operations?

What is mRescue?

m-Rescue is a Cloud-based Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity service that allows your business to set its own RTOs and RPOs ensuring compliance with your internal IT Policies and Procedures.

Our solution allows for testing with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations, giving the organisation peace of mind that in the event of a disaster, the business can continue to function.

Backup or Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery?

Organisations sometimes choose either one or the other, with mRecover and mRescue both working as one or as separate solutions, giving you the flexibility to keep data for defined periods, which may be required for legal or legislative purposes.

BCDR should not be treated as a backup solution. Data is replicated on a regular scheduled basis and if data loss or corruption occurs, then you may not be able to recover the data from the BCDR solution as data is copied and overwritten regularly and typically these solutions only have limited Recovery Points to go back to.
